Julia Santucci, Director 

 

Julia Santucci is a senior lecturer in intelligence studies with over a decade of experience in national security and foreign policy positions at the White House, Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and the Department of State. She directs both the Hesselbein Forum and the Johnson Institute for Responsible Leadership in the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. Santucci designed and directs one of the Forum’s flagship programs, the Leadership Program in International Affairs, which empowers students with the skills they need to be effective leaders throughout their careers in international affairs—whether as diplomats, intelligence and security officials, development professionals, or in the private sector—and to deal effectively with leaders from around the world.

Fred Thieman, Leader-in-Residence

 

Fred Thieman, the former US Attorney for Western PA and President of the Buhl Foundation is the 2019-20 Hesselbein Leader-in-Residence. He serves as a mentor to GSPIA students and counsel to faculty and staff on Hesselbein Forum programming and research.

Doreen is responsible for the daily operations and programming for GSPIA’s extracurricular leadership development programs, the Leadership Portfolio Program and the Hesselbein Forum Leadership Program in International Affairs. Doreen supervises students and oversees the development of print publications and social media.

Frances’ ongoing contributions to the field of leadership development include her role (since 1996) as Editor-in-Chief of the award-winning quarterly Leader to Leader Journal; her commitment to the University of Pittsburgh’s Hesselbein Global Academy for Student Leadership and Civic Engagement; her advisory role to the United States Military Academy at West Point; and her service on many nonprofit and private sector corporate boards, including the Mutual of America Life Insurance Company and the Bright China Social Fund.

Tiffany Monsalve is responsible for managing Mrs. Hesselbein's calendar and working with Mrs. Hesselbein to correspond with leaders in all three sectors.

Theresa Berenato is responsible for internal and external communications. She oversees the organization’s media relations and directs all written and design operations for Forum programs and publications, including the award-winning Leader to Leader Journal.
